Topic: Psalms, Trials, Suffering, Depression, Scripture: Psalm 11

Have you ever been betrayed by a friend? Or worse, have you ever been led into a trap by someone you trusted as a friend? Sometimes real friends give us bad advice but that doesn’t mean they are not real friends. That is not what David is bemoaning in this Psalm. In Psalm 11 David writes of one of his experiences of friends intentionally giving him wrong counsel in hopes that he would turn from God to be caught and put to unrecoverable shame. Sometimes this comes to us in the form of a person who, for one reason or another, wants to discourages us in our walk with God. Other times these are enemies disguising themselves as friends to bring us to ruin. Notice how David’s trust in God was shaken but was later strengthened through God’s Word.
