Colossians 1:12-13 Adopted Into The Royal Family
February 3, 2019 Speaker: Pastor Scott Slaughter Series: Colossians - The Supremacy of Christ
Topic: Jesus Christ, Messiah, Salvation Scripture: Colossians 1:12–13
By the use of four participles in the Greek text (being fruitful, increasing, strengthened, and giving thanks) the Apostle Paul has set down for us the ramifications of walking worthy of the Lord. From the fourth participle (“giving thanks”) we see that the believer is to be giving thanks in everything.
Since Paul’s main purpose is to set for Christ and His work more clearly in order to correct the false teaching within the church, Paul launches from thanksgiving into the work of the Father and the Son in redemption. He expounds these things to encourage these believers to be thankful for a finished work instead of being doubtful.
