Why We Should Bless GOD |Do Words Matter Anymore?

April 6, 2022 Speaker: Pastor Scott Slaughter Series: The Book Of Psalms, Songs & Prayers to the King

Topic: Psalms, Worldview, Philosophy, Culture Scripture: Psalm 134:1–3

How we use words matters. We may be tempted to question this statement in this day of images and emojis. But, if I were to say to you, You have a beautiful smile. Or, your child is very smart. Or, you are a brave man. You are a good mother or you are a good father. Psalm 134 is about a word. The word is common to those of us in the Christian Faith. The word is “blessed.” In the space of 3 short verses, this word is used 3 times in Psalm 134. We want God to bless us but do we purpose to bless Him? But what does it mean “to bless?” We often use this word in conversations. We say things like “bless you,” “God bless you,” or we may encourage other believers to “bless God.” What does this actually mean? What are we seeking when we say such things? Is this simply “Christian talk” or “religious jargon?” Have trouble understanding the Bible? Do want someone to explain the Bible in everyday language in a way that you can understand? Our goal is to help God's people understand His Word.
