How do we know that the things yet promised the Church and every believer are true and will someday come to be? Jesus Takes Us From Shame to Glory (a new exodus). [1] And he said to them, “Truly, I say to you, there are some standing here who will not taste death until they see the kingdom of God after it has come with power.” [2] And after six days Jesus took with him Peter and James and John, and led them up a high mountain by themselves. And he was transfigured before them, [3] and his clothes became radiant, intensely white, as no one on earth could bleach them. [4] And there appeared to them Elijah with Moses, and they were talking with Jesus. We ended the last section with Jesus’ shocking message that He would be crucified upon a Roman cross. He also called all of His disciples to accept the suffering that comes with following Him as their own cross to bear for Him. Jesus ended that section with a promise that some standing there would see the kingdom of God in powerful glory very soon. Since this is what they had been longing for, they would be given a dazzling glimpse into the future coming of Jesus Christ in glory.

NOTE: Mount Tabor is another possible location for the transfiguration of Jesus. Standing at just under 2000 feet above sea level, Mt. Tabor is the second highest mountain in the region next to Mount Hermon.
